“Nobody of any real culture, for instance, ever talks nowadays about the beauty of sunset. Sunsets are quite old fashioned. To admire them is a distinct sign of provincialism of temperament. Upon the other hand they go on.”
Oscar Wilde
I am a fan of Oscar Wilde since age of 12, so I cannot tell for sure is it his hidden influence or my personal whim that I have never had a picture of a classic sunset on my wall. Nevertheless, the images I am going to share today prove that nothing human is alien to me, which is another quote 🙂 . Sunsets and quotes, hope you enjoy them.
“When the sun sets, who doth not look for night?” Shakespeare “Clouds come floating into my life no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.” Robindranath Tagore “Every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn.” Ralph Waldo Emerson “To leave out beautiful sunsets is the secret of good taste.” 🙂 Dejan Stojanovic “What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset.” Chief Crowfoot “When I admire the wonder of a sunset, or a beauty of the moon, my soul expands in worship of the Creator. “ Mahatma Gandhi “You know – one loves the sunset when one is very very sad…” Antoine de Saint-Exupery, The Little Prince
“If your eyes are blinded with your worries, you cannot see the beauty of the sunset.”
Jiddu Krishnamurti
“Don ‘t forget : beautiful sunsets need cloudy skies.”
Paulo Coelho
All the photographs are taken in different countries over the years.
Tip of the day: Just sit still and watch. You will know when to take out your camera.
Have a good week!

Love the images and I’ve also loved Oscar Wilde since I was very young .
Oh that’s great to hear! 🙂
A wonderful collection of photos!! Keep shooting, and posting!
Thank you for your kind comment!
Great works deserve comments!
🙂
Great photos! I loved the quotes! 🙂
Thank you! 🙂
love this post, thank you
Thank you for reading! 🙂
The range of pink and gray tones in your first photo is just mesmerizing! You captured the mood beautifully, Inese. Wow, I keep scrolling back…
Thank you Alisa! The picture was taken in 2007. It is a town between two hills, and in early spring the raising and setting sun creates a marvellous glow, not only pink, but sometimes yellow and even green. It lasts only a couple of minutes and looks especially magic if there is some mist or fog in the air. I have one image of a greenish evening glow, couldn’t find it in my messy folders though, but I think it is in Google Earth if you look for Clonmel, Ireland.
Fantastic, thanks! I’ll look it up. What a gorgeous place tucked away.
So many beautiful places and only one short life…
I agree with Alisa – the first photo is my favorite – and I love Ireland. My maternal grandfather came from County Clare (I still have relatives there with whom I was privileged to visit some 30 years ago).
As an Oscar Wilde fan, no doubt you’ve seen the wonderful film THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST. I’ve watched it several times and (since it’s been a while) hope to watch it again before long.
Top o’ the mornin’, afternoon and evening to you from Ohio, USA!
Thank you for your comment! Co Clare is one of the most beautiful places, and I have many photographs in this blog that were taken in Clare. Yes, I have seen the film, the one with the old Redgrave 🙂
Have a lovely weekend over there in Ohio!
I have loved this post a lot!! Your pictures seem made for the quotes. Thanks 🙂
Thank you for reading :)! Have a good happy week!
beautiful images..they are so dreamy…like a postcard..
Thank you Natasha! 🙂
Beautiful Shots…:)
Thank you! I am not too much into the sunset photography :))
Yet you have captured wonderful moments…:)
Thank you! 🙂
What a wonderful collection, Inese! With such inspiring quotes…I especially like the one from Tagore where he speaks of the clouds as bringers of color. Just wonderful! Thanks!
Thank you for reading, Kate! It wasn’t easy to marry the quotes and the pictures: these are all the sunset pictures I have! I prefer watching the sunsets, not pressing the shutter in the first place. And I do believe that most of existing sunset pictures shouldn’t have been taken 🙂 Yet sometimes I yield temptation like any mortal 🙂
I can imagine taking shots must interrupt those intense moments. Well, I’m glad I got to experience a bit of those 🙂 And, thanks again for the quotes!
Have a good and happy week! 🙂
Great shots here, Inese…and i will always love sunsets
I do love them, but I love to watch, not to take pictures.
Beautiful photos and wonderful quotes to go along with them! Great job! 🙂
Thank you Linda! I thought that a smile will go all right with these pictures:)
Marvelous shots, dear Inese… I loved the polaroid effect here… And, by the way, that quote by Lord Oscar Wilde is remarkable!.
Thanks for sharing. ❤
All the very best to you, Aquileana 😀
Thank you dear Aqueliana! I do believe that people would rather watch the sunsets than take millions of images which look exactly the same 🙂 This selection is pretty much all I have in years and years 🙂 I am not a sunset person at all 🙂
My best wishes!
It is certainly a beautiful selection, cara Inese…
Same old sun… Now that you mention it I notice it has been there above us since “forever”
Many hugs and happy wednesday to you,
Aquileana 😀
Thank you! You made me smile, sweet girl! Have a happy day!
Inese
marvelous retros… 😉
Thanks 🙂
Love the one with the sun in the clouds.
Thank you! 🙂 To be honest I had a hard time looking for these pictures. It is all sunsets I have got I think…
I’ve been sharing your posts on my Facebook page. You are wonderful!
Thank you! You too kind! 🙂
A very enlightening post, Inese. 🙂 Great quotes to match your pics.
Thank you 🙂 I am not really a sunset person though 🙂
Reblogged this on ArtVoiceWV.
Wow, another great moment. Love the images and the quotes.
Thank you! It was difficult to find the matching quotes 🙂 I almost started making up my own 🙂
I know what you mean. What I truly enjoy about your blog is your insight and your “camera eye”. Your photography really captures simple beauty. Looking forward to the next post.
Thank you for your encouraging words!
Thank you for re-blogging!
