“Nobody of any real culture, for instance, ever talks nowadays about the beauty of sunset. Sunsets are quite old fashioned. To admire them is a distinct sign of provincialism of temperament. Upon the other hand they go on.”
Oscar Wilde
I am a fan of Oscar Wilde since age of 12, so I cannot tell for sure is it his hidden influence or my personal whim that I have never had a picture of a classic sunset on my wall. Nevertheless, the images I am going to share today prove that nothing human is alien to me, which is another quote 🙂 . Sunsets and quotes, hope you enjoy them.
“When the sun sets, who doth not look for night?” Shakespeare “Clouds come floating into my life no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.” Robindranath Tagore “Every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn.” Ralph Waldo Emerson “To leave out beautiful sunsets is the secret of good taste.” 🙂 Dejan Stojanovic “What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset.” Chief Crowfoot “When I admire the wonder of a sunset, or a beauty of the moon, my soul expands in worship of the Creator. “ Mahatma Gandhi “You know – one loves the sunset when one is very very sad…” Antoine de Saint-Exupery, The Little Prince
All the photographs are taken in different countries over the years.
Tip of the day: Just sit still and watch. You will know when to take out your camera.
Have a good week!

Thank you 🙂 Who is not? Every person is talented.
Exactly, it is just that realizing our potential & utilizing it makes all the difference 🙂
Your sunsets are beautiful
I love how you put your own spin on them
Thank you for your like
As always Sheldon
Thank you so much for your kind comment! I don’t know why but I just cannot take the sunset photography seriously: setting up the tripod, waiting… My sunset pictures are very seldom planned. Sunrise photography is different because I have to work for it harder – wake up early and everything 🙂
Sunsets reflect time passed. Very beautiful photos.
Thank you for stopping by!
Yes Sunsets are indeed awe-inspiring and you pictures are so beautiful.
Here in Orissa India once in 2000 years the Sun enters the “Konark temple of Sun” and this happened in May this year.
Cheers 🙂
Oh thank you for commenting, and for the link 🙂
I am left breathless by this collection. Your talent cannot be understated.
Oh thank you so much Jean! I love portraiture and cannot call myself a landscape photographer, but you know how it is – one cannot just share people’s portraits in the internet, right? 🙂 So I just walk around and take pictures of everything I see for this blog. Thank you again for your kind comment!
You’re most welcome! I studied briefly in Co. Cork. I may have missed it, but do you have any pictures of that area?
Cork! I have something from Co Cork 🙂 https://inesemjphotography.com/category/fota-wildlife-park/
I wonder if you have been there.
Sadly no. I studied at the university for a summer and tried to visit as many castles as I could. But thank you so much for sharing this!
There is also a post about the Cork Gaol – historical jail – somewhere the same month. Great you got to see some castles. Come again! 🙂
Oh goody! I shall look those up. And yes, we definitely plan on coming over when our children a old enough to enjoy it…or to be left behind with a brave relative. 🙂
