Look back. Smile back.

Another Christmas slipped away.  The last week of the year is that nebulous time we are not sure about –  either we want it to last longer, or jump straight into the New Year.  Some people spend this time frantically trying to tie up loose ends; some are adding fresh illusions to their New Year’s resolution lists; some just enjoy these unstructured, lazy days.

It is not uncommon for people to look back at the year that was.

Did anything extraordinary happen to you in 2015? The most extraordinary thing I can think about is that I have seen the Blood Moon twice  – first in the US in April, and then in Ireland in September.

My daughter and her family have been  a source of joy,  as always. My friends were always there for me too.  I cannot recall any major disappointments.

I have met amazing people…

…and had fun.

I appreciate friendship…

… but I can go solo if need be.

Christmas is about family and home. New Year is about our global family. If you ever stood in the city square during the New Year’s Eve countdown, you know what I mean.

Look back, and smile back – you have had happy moments, you have overcome adversity, you have been appreciated. Look ahead and don’t be afraid.  Another 366 (!) days of photography, writing, painting,  studying, traveling, reading and pondering.  You will find exactly what you are looking for. Living is the best opportunity for being victorious.

Happy, prosperous, safe, healthy, amazing New Year to you all!

With much love

Inese

  1. I have to admit, I’ve changed my views on the last week of the year in recent years. I used to view it as another year gone, which depressed me no end, especially as I got older. Now I have a much more positive outlook, and see the New Year as a new challenge, and look forward to it and what it might bring.
It’s lovely to see how much you have achieved this year, Inese. I agree that the world around us is totally amazing… and that ‘family’ never ceases to be a source of joy. I hope 2016 brings you much happiness, and I look forward to reading more of your wonderful posts!

    1. Thank you Millie! 🙂 It is just a blog, I wouldn’t post a list of my achievements here 🙂 It is just a message to all who have doubts and fears, who think that their life is small and uninteresting. To all who don’t believe in a happy new year 🙂

In a couple of days I am starting your second book 🙂 Looking forward 🙂 Have a wonderful New Year! Thank you for writing your amazing books! 🙂

      1. Thank you for writing such awe inspiring posts! We’re hoping to visit Ireland again, very soon. Your photos are absolutely superb.
        Happy New Year, Inese! 🙂

          1. We’re the same over here, Inese. Northern England is in a terrible state. We were hoping to visit my auntie up in the lake District over the holiday, but so many places are cut off – as well as electricity supplies. It’s been a sad Christmas for many people. Hopefully, the spring and summer months will bring some sort of reprieve. Hope you haven’t been hit, where you are!

            1. Yes, many families will remember this Christmas as a horror story. I am not affected, but I cannot drive where I have to. Some small towns look like lakes, and people travel by boats in the streets.

              1. Yes, flood defences are so inadequate in may places – but I won’t go into the politics behind that here. My heart goes out to so many families, forced out of their homes. For some of them, this isn’t the first time, either.Glad to hear that you are OK, as are we. We aren’t close enough to the Trent to suffer flooding.

  2. Happy…in fact the happiest of New Years to you Inese. Peace, joy and everything. I love these photographs, especially the moon ones. There she is spinning timelessly in space. I hope you have plans for tonight and tomorrow xxxx

    1. Thank you for your wonderful wishes!
I too love my moons – the same thing looks different from the different continents. Two blood moons a year is a good luck. I wish that luck covered some other aspects of my life 😉
No sleep until midnight tonight – it is my plan 🙂
      Hugs xxxxxxxxxxxxx
